We’ve shared quite a few articles about dogs locked in cars this summer. However, as the hottest days of the year are upon us, it’s definitely still relevant. That’s why another recent story is even more infuriating. This time the locked dog was a husky of all breeds. The husky collapsed on the ground after getting out of the car.
The poor canine was extremely overheated and exhausted. After the police smashed the car’s window, the husky couldn’t stand on his feet.
This time, the deed was done in the UK. The temperature there that day was around 29 °C (84.2 °F).
However, in a locked car, the temperatures can skyrocket in a matter of hours.
What’s even more infuriating is that when the owners returned to the car, they didn’t see what they had done wrong. Witness claims that the owners actually started quarreling with the police officers. They were mad that their window had been broken. Meanwhile, the dog was still lying on the ground, semi-conscious.
The parking ticket of the car showed that the two people had locked the door for just under 2 hours. Yet that was enough for the dog to nearly face death.
Samantha Claire Hardwidge was the one who stumbled upon the boiling husky in Swindon, Wiltshire, UK. She and a fellow colleague shared the pictures of the poor husky online.
Samantha wrote on Facebook:
“Shout out to the owners of this car who felt it appropriate to leave their husky in their car.
“The parking ticket shows them arriving at 10:47 am. The dog was found by me and my colleague in a poor state at 12:35 pm – with the parking ticket showing they could park until 1:46 pm.
“The police were called and removed the dog from the car. The owners arrived back at the car and proceeded to shout and swear that they didn’t see what the problem is.
Samantha’s frustration is quite understandable. She had just seen a husky collapsed on the ground due to his owners’ negligence.
“The owners refused to take the dog to the vets to be checked despite it being visibly distressed from being in the car for so long.

“The owners refused to pass their details to the police. The dog was seized so it could be checked by a vet.”
The photos clearly show the almost dead husky inside the car. They also show him lying on the ground with a water bowl next to him.
As we are writing this, the Facebook post has over 15,000 shares and 5000 comments from infuriated dog lovers online. Hopefully, reactions like these will inform more people that even 2 hours in a car at even just 29 °C (84.2 °F) can be fatal for a dog.
