A dog was abandoned in Ohio by someone who wrote messages all over its body.
The messages were things like “Free” and “Good Home Only.”
The staff at Ross County Humane Society renamed the dog Marvella.
An outraged employee shared photos of the dog on Facebook.
“So I usually try to contain my self with my work life and with what I see every single day, but this just tops it off!” wrote Brittany May “How are you going to dump your dog, and write FREE all over it in permanent marker! I just don’t get it! Anybody know this dog? Found dumped at the armory down in the park!
This is a whole new level of LOW!
Rosscountyhumanesociety.org is our website if anyone is interested in applying for this sweet girl*”
Despite this being on Brittany’s personal account, the photos still gathered thousands of reactions and comments from people on Facebook.
The viral story has quickly gathered pace due to its simplicity and peculiar nature.
What’s probably the saddest part about this whole story is not even the dog – the pooch is now in the good hands of the Ross County Humane Society – but that there’s a chance the person who abandoned it actually meant well. After all, the pup did have “Good Home Only” written right across its face. So, it’s possible that the person who abandoned the pup actually meant well… in a horrifying, idiotic kind of way. That, or it was all just a mean joke, which isn’t really better.
Either way, whatever this says for humanity, the important thing is that the pooch is all right and in good hands. The Humane Society is a nonprofit corporation with a lot of experience in dealing with stray animals and adoptions. Hopefully, the fact that his story went viral so quickly will further help the little fella find a “Good home”.
