Lately, there has been more and more news regarding canine accidents while in the care of dog trainers. What’s more disturbing, some dog trainers are choosing to hide the accidents so they can save their practice. Another recent example is the case of a linebacker’s dog’s corpse found in trainer’s home.
Jerod Mayo is a former New England Patriots linebacker. Recently, he received some quite disturbing news when his missing dog was found dead by the Rhode Island SPCA. “Knox,” was a 5-year-old English bulldog and he was found in the home of his former trainer, Amelia Ferriera.
The dog died in June, but Ferreira had been feeding misinformation to the police just so they don’t find the corpse. It was a recent contradiction in her statement that led the police to search her home. That’s how they found the dog’s body in a trash bag.
As a result of that, Ferreira has been charged with one count of Obstruction.
The exact cause of death is still unclear but can lead to more charges against Ferreira if it’s her fault as well.
Jerod Mayo released an Instagram statement, blasting the trainer’s actions as “disgusting and inhumane.”

Mayo also thanked the public for all the support they’ve given him after he had his dog’s corpse found in trainer’s home.
Mayo also says that “this is just getting started.”
“We still have work to do … we need to bring awareness to this problem so it never happens again,” Mayo wrote.
