Two months ago, a SAS team was saved by a brave military dog. The hero canine fought off several jihadis who had ambushed the SAS team and killed three of them alone.
The dog is from the Belgian Malinois breed and remains unnamed.
Belgian Malinois are a fierce breed of herding dogs who are known for their bravery. The dog was the only canine to accompany the team of 6 SAS soldiers as they were on a routine recce mission in Syria. Soon after the soldiers separated from the rest of their convoy they were ambushed from all sides by jihadi soldiers in what was described as a ‘360-degree ambush’.
The SAS men tried to return fire but were hopelessly out of position. That’s when the animal reportedly leaped to their defense, tore the throat of one gunman and turned on another two. After the sudden reversal, the other ambushers fled.
A source said in front of the Daily Star: ‘The SAS found themselves in a 360-degree ambush.
‘The initiative was with the terrorists and the only hope for the British was to try and make a run for it.
‘The handler removed the dog’s muzzle and directed him into a building from where they were coming under fire.
‘They could hear screaming and shouting before the firing from the house stopped.
‘When the team entered the building they saw the dog standing over a dead gunman.’
Even though the incident took place more than 2 months ago, it was just now made public for security reasons.
‘His throat had been torn out and he had bled to death,’ the source continued, ‘There was also a lump of human flesh in one corner and a series of blood trails leading out of the back of the building.
‘The dog was virtually uninjured. The SAS were able to consolidate their defensive position and eventually break away from the battle without taking any casualties.’
The SAS commander didn’t hesitate to credit the heroic Belgian Malinois as the savior of the six SAS soldiers.
