Homemade dog food is more time consuming than dumping kibble into a bowl, but its advantages easily outweigh its drawbacks. When making homemade dog food, you can use the best quality ingredients that you can afford.

You can make organic, all-natural dog food that your pup will LOVE!

Many commercial diets are made with artificial ingredients, fillers and other junk that does more harm to your pet’s body than good. As I’m sure you already know, the top-quality commercial grade dog foods that are made with all-natural and organic ingredients are very pricey.

Recipe: Beef & Chicken Stew for Dogs

This is a very simple recipe to make. The prep work is the hardest part. If you’d like to use a different protein source, just choose a protein that your dog enjoys and cut it into small chunks about the size of a penny. Prep for this recipe usually takes me about 10 minutes.

  • Author: Samantha Randall

  • Cook Time: 35 minutes
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: about 12 servings
  • Category: Cooked Food
  • Method: Stovetop
  • Cuisine: Dog Food
  • 2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken
  • 1.5 lbs. lean ground beef
  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 12 ounces mixed veggies

Add the chicken and beef to a large stock pot. Cover the meat with water and bring to a boil over medium heat. Once at a boil, remove the cover and allow the recipe to simmer for 30 minutes.

By this time, the protein should be cooked thoroughly. Shred the chicken and break the ground beef into small, bite-size pieces.

Add the oats and vegetables and simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Once finished, stir the recipe until the ingredients are evenly combined.
