Few things can be more entertaining than an ecstatic dog. This is best exemplified by this week’s first meeting between Yoda and Maryland’s white snow. No, not that Yoda – an even cuter one.
Check out this Youtube video to meet the two-year-old chihuahua-dachshund mix, named Yoda. All his life the little fellow has lived as a street dog in Dorado, Puerto Rico. It was last year, in March 2017 that he was relocated to Phoenix, Maryland and later got adopted the next month by the 26 year old Heather Bauer. It was thanks to the work of the Love of Satos animal rescue charity that little Yoda could make the great journey from South American to NA. Heather first spotted Yoda’s photograph posted on the Facebook page of Animal Rescue Inc, which is a Pennsylvania affiliate of the group.
As a native Puerto Rican, Yoda was used to living in temperatures of an average 75 degrees in Fahrenheit, so his first meeting with snow was always to be eagerly expected. Dogs tend to react in different ways when they see snow for the first time, but Yoda took the new environment and made it his own, as you can see in the video. On the side, his 6 year old brother, the corgie-pitbull mix Cooper, is just standing still, taken aback both by the snow and by Yoda’s ecstatic reaction to it.
The video was filmed in December 2017 when the first snow hit Maryland, but came to popularity just recently. In the words of Heather:
“When Yoda was found, he was a street dog in Puerto Rico and I think this had to have been the first time he had ever seen snow.”
“I thought because he came from such a hot climate he’d be wary when I let them out into the snow but he just went crazy.”
“He was so excited. I was throwing snowballs at him and he couldn’t understand why they disappeared when they hit the ground.”
Amazing: This is the joyous moment a Puerto Rican rescue dog saw snow for the first time and ran circles around his frosty yard in excitement
