Everyone who loves a pet has the same problem with cell phone storage: a full memory of pics and videos of our furry friend: sleeping, smiling, bathing, eating, playing in the park … It’s not a mystery that treasuring their sweetest and cheerful moments is important, so we bring you a list of tips to take your pet’s photography skills to the next level.

Although sometimes it may be difficult, I do not know about you but it has happened to me that the impact scene just barely achieves focus on the camera, getting great pictures of our furry can be achieved without hiring a studio or a photographer, just follow the following tips:

1.Be Always ready: Although it may sound difficult, the best photographic opportunities come without warning. Of course, if you want to take pictures of your dog wearing a particular costume, obviously there will be some planning, but it is important that, in situations like this, keep at hand your camera or Smartphone and, if possible, unlocked to have a faster access.

2.  Act Natural: Dogs react to our behavior. If you accelerate or suddenly move, he can interpret it as a call to play and lose the “pose” you hoped to portray. Act naturally and pull the trigger like nobodies business.

3. Quantity gets you quality: In pets photography is more important to focus on achieving a large set of pictures than on achieving the perfect framing because, although it sounds a bit silly, that’s the easiest way to achieve a good photograph. Only well-trained dogs, especially those who work in commercials and movies, have mastered the art of staying in certain poses, the average dog will be frisky, fast, playful and impossible to capture unless you patiently take a large number of photos, until then, among a couple of hundreds, you will be able to choose the best.

4. About lighting: Of course, we won’t always have the ideal lighting conditions that a professional studio have but, natural light is phenomenal to achieve beautiful photos. Especially between 9 and 11 am, and from 3 pm until sunset, the sun casts the most beautiful light. Needless to say, pets and flash are not a great match
5. Tricks and strategy: from using his favorite toy or offering a trick as a visual focus, this simple strategy will keep them still long enough for one or two photos.
6. Take care of the Background: A simple camera movement or zooming can provide us better photographic results. If the main photo attraction is our pet, removing elements that can cause “visual noise” or distract us from the main focus, is vital for achieving “postcard results”.
7. Go further: Beyond the typical calendar photos, a fun way to portray the love we feel for our dogs is to capture those beautiful traits that makes them unique and special: a close up of his precious nose, the curve of his tail, a side photo of his attentive gaze, a Video of his excitement when you get home … The only limit is your imagination.
